Unexploded Ordnance (UXO)
Occasionally a site may contain more than old foundations.
The discovery of unexploded ordnance at a site can endanger human life, and at best will significantly disrupt development.
Abricon’s EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) specialists have over 39 years experience of ordnance removal and control across the Commercial, Military and Humanitarian Sectors.
They are experienced in the safe, systematic clearance of remnant WW explosive ordnance, as well as other explosive devices both in the UK and overseas. All such EOD operations can be carried out both on land or underwater.
In high risk areas, prior to development, we can carry out a Desk Study report to produce a UXO Threat Assessmen, drawing on research from military records, national archives and personal archives. All such works are carried out by qualified former military bomb disposal engineers.
Intrusive or extrusive UXO surveys may also be carried on a site using geophysical survey equipment and/or cone penetration testing, to produce accurate maps of UXO locations.
